1808 William Newberry invents the bandsaw
1917 Armstrong Blum Mfg. Inc. patents and produces the Marvel #8 Metal Cutting Bandsaw 
1933 Leighton A. Wilkie (1900-1993), invented the metal band saw and called it a DoALL 
1947 first Claw-Tool or "hook-tooth" form band saw blade developed
1947 William F Wells applies for a patent for improvements in bandsaws including hydraulic feed and lift of the saw head.
1949 first bandsawing machines with hydraulically-powered work tables are developed; first tungsten carbide-tipped band saw blade
1952 William F Wells patent approved
1953 first high-speed steel band saw blade is produced and marketed; first cutoff bandsawing machine deisgned for high-speed steel blades is introduced
1964 First bimetal band saw blades introduced
1988 Milford granted patent for triple chip ground carbide tipped bandsaw blades
1989 Armstrong Blum Mfg is granted patent for Programmable bandsaw machine. The microcomputer is capable of storing a series of sawing jobs. Each job has a number of sawing steps including differing angles
1991 Apparatus for detecting lateral deviation of a band saw blade patent is approved and issued to Gerald Harris of Hem Saw
